From that ache, I pick up my pen and paper, and a baby poem is born. Sitting at the breakfast table, she teases me, “So, who’s Nishi?” I laugh and say, “Nishi means the night. One day a Brahmin went to the field with his cow. He tied the cow to a tree and started watering the tree himself. A thief saw him and thought to himself, if I can steal this cow, how much profit will I get! He then went to the Brahmin and said, 'Brother, do you want to sell this cow? I can give you a good price.' The Brahmin said, 'No, I don't want to sell this cow. This is my dear cow, I love it very much.' The thief said, 'Then you do one thing, you rent this cow to me for a day. I will take it to the fields, milk it, feed it well. I will pay you a good rent.' 'Well,' said the Brahmin, 'I can rent you this bull, but you will take good care of it, and return it to my house at night. I will rent you a hundred rupees.' 'Yes,' said the thief, 'I will keep it well, and bring it back to your house at night. I will rent you a hundred rupees.' Saying this, the thief stole the cow and left.
The thief took the cow to a distant village. He wanted to sell the cow to an owner there. The owner said, 'This cow is not your own cow? Where did you get it from?' The thief said, 'Yes, this cow is my own cow. I brought it from my village. I want to sell it, because I need the money.' The owner said, 'Okay, I can pay you two thousand rupees for this bull. Do you agree?' The thief said, 'Yes, I agree. You give me money, I will give you cow.' Saying this, the thief ran away with the money.
The Brahmin went to the thief's house at night and asked for his cow back, he noticed that his cow was not there. He asked the thief, 'You? But where is my cow? Then the thief was caught.

একদিন এক ব্রাহ্মণ তার গোরু নিয়ে মাঠে গেল। সে গোরুটিকে একটি গাছের সঙ্গে বেঁধে দিয়ে নিজে গাছের গোড়ায় জল দেওয়ার কাজ করতে লাগল। একটি চোর তাকে দেখে মনে মনে ভাবল, এই গোরুটা যদি আমি চুরি করে নিতে পারি, তাহলে আমার কত লাভ হবে! সে তখন ব্রাহ্মণের কাছে গিয়ে বলল, 'ভাই, আপনি কি এই গোরুটাকে বিক্রি করতে চান? আমি আপনাকে একটি ভাল দাম দিতে পারি।' ব্রাহ্মণ বলল, 'না, আমি এই গোরুটাকে বিক্রি করতে চাই না। এটা আমার প্রিয় গোরু, আমি এটাকে অনেক ভালবাসি।' চোর বলল, 'তাহলে আপনি একটা কাজ করুন, আপনি এই গোরুটাকে আমার কাছে একদিনের জন্য ভাড়া দিন। আমি এটাকে মাঠে নিয়ে যাব, এটার দুধ দেব, এটাকে ভাল করে খাওয়াব। আমি আপনাকে একটি ভাল ভাড়া দিব।' ব্রাহ্মণ বলল, 'ঠিক আছে, আমি আপনাকে এই গোরুটাকে ভাড়া দিতে পারি, কিন্তু আপনি এটাকে ভাল করে রাখবেন, এবং রাতে আমার বাড়িতে ফিরিয়ে দেবেন। আমি আপনাকে একশো টাকা ভাড়া নিব।' চোর বলল, 'হ্যাঁ, আমি এটাকে ভাল করে রাখব, আর রাতে আপনার বাড়িতে ফিরিয়ে দেব। আমি আপনাকে একশো টাকা ভাড়া দিব।' এই বলে চোর গোরুটিকে ছিনিয়ে নিয়ে চলে গেল।

চোর গোরুটিকে নিয়ে একটি দূরবর্তী গ্রামে গেল। সে সেখানে একজন মালিকের কাছে গোরুটিকে বিক্রি করতে চাইল। মালিক বলল, 'এই গোরুটা আপনার নিজের গোরু না কি? আপনি এটাকে কোথা থেকে এনেছেন?' চোর বলল, 'হ্যাঁ, এই গোরুটা আমার নিজের গোরু। আমি এটাকে আমার গ্রাম থেকে এনেছি। আমি এটাকে বিক্রি করতে চাই, কারণ আমার টাকা দরকার।' মালিক বলল, 'ঠিক আছে, আমি আপনাকে এই গোরুটার জন্য দুই হাজার টাকা দিতে পারি। আপনি কি রাজি?' চোর বলল, 'হ্যাঁ, আমি রাজি। আপনি আমাকে টাকা দিন, আমি আপনাকে গোরুটা দিয়ে দেব।' এই বলে চোর টাকা নিয়ে পালিয়ে গেল।

ব্রাহ্মণ রাতে চোরের বাড়িতে গিয়ে তার গোরুটা ফেরত চাইলো, সে খেয়াল করলো তার গরুটা নেই । সে চোরকে জিজ্ঞেস করল, 'আপনি ? কিন্তু আমার গোরুটা কোথায়? তখন চোরটি ধরা পড়ে গেল।
