Nishi’s Story - a little true story .
Born: Gopal Chandra Pramanik; Krishnanagar, Nadia, West Bengal, IndiaDeath: Nadia, India The sweet shop has various sweets including Sandesh, Pantoya, Rasgolla arranged in layers. Who doesn't see such juicy sweets, water comes in the pocket! Little
Gopal also came. He was returning to his home from Mamabari. Seeing the sweets in the shop on the way, as soon as water came in his pocket, his hunger also increased. It was as if a needle's eye had begun. But there is no money in hand. What can be done? Gopal saw Moira's son sitting in the shop. And her father is sitting in the back room eating lunch. He immediately began to eat the sweets arranged on the plate. Moira's son is surprised by this sudden incident. ‘Who are you? Didn't say, there is no crow, are you eating sweet sweets? What’s your name? ’He said. Gopal replied, ‘My name is Machi. I eat sweets every day. Did you see me new ?
The boy then called his father and said, ‘Dad, the fly is eating sweets.’ Dad said, ‘Khagge. How much more sweet will he eat? He eats every day. You will never be able to stop him. '
What else does the boy do! Became silent. By then, Gopal had finished the messages of the shop and started walking home with his hands on his stomach.
There is no need to tell anyone by drumming, the above story is by Gopal Bhar. The one who is a clown, he is Gopal to us. When you think of the appearance of a clown, inevitably the face of a very handsome man with a fat belly with a bald head is floating in the eyes of a Bengali. His name must be Gopal Bhar. If you go to see a grumpy Bengali who has not smiled after hearing his story, which is common in the mouths of people from time immemorial, it will be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Because, now Abdi Gopal Bhandai is the appropriate representative of the oral tradition of the popular Bengali. There is a nice line of laughter in his folk tales, but behind that laughter there is also the candy-knife of the assassin the knife that cuts through a feudal society through criticism. There are issues of public education, ethics education and social reform in general. Even after all this, Gopal Bangali is not much of a clown book, he is a humorous and funny character. Capitalizing on his popularity, he has made several movies, television series and animated films. Besides, who knows, the gossip of Gopal Bhar was one of the tools of Battala-centric literature which gained immense popularity in the newly formed city of Calcutta in the early nineteenth century.
In today's Bangladesh, the triumph of Gopal Bhar is not like before. There must be some social reason behind it. Besides, it is true that it is not so easy to erase this humorous character from the heart of a Bengali. Because, from time to time, the water in Ganga-Padma-Jamuna has not been muddy with Gopal Bhar. Who is Gopal Bhar? Was there anyone by this name? Or Gopal is the sum of more than one person?
Some say he was, in fact, a man of flesh and blood. According to some people, it is useless to look for the existence of a single person named Gopal Bhar. Because, history does not give much evidence.
All those who have argued vigorously for and against the existence of Gopal are ingenious. As a result, the water is constantly turbid. In that comparison, we are the only ones who are 'left' by the side of the elite. The rest are masters of many useless deeds. Let's swim again in the muddy waters of history in the investigation of the question whether Gopal was a clown or not. Maybe the water will be a little more turbid, nothing more.
Curt of King Krishnachandra Roy of Nadia. His contemporary poet Bharat Chandra Raigunakar (Krishnachandra gave the title of Raigunakar to Bharat Chandra) has finished writing 'Vidyasundara' part of Annadamangal's poem. Now it is being read. Bharat Chandra himself is reading the composition with both hands. At that moment, Gopal entered the court and before anyone could say anything, he addressed Bharat Chandra and shouted, The juice will roll! '
This story, which was included in Ujjwal Kumar Das's collection of 100 best stories by Gopal Bhar, must have been Rosse Taitambur, but here is an early source of Gopal's theory. The source is Krishnachandra.
The reign of King Krishnachandra (1610-63) of Nadia, a powerful and influential character of Bengal, was 55 years. When he ascended the throne at the age of 18, it was 1826. Krishnachandra, a believer in Shakta religion, was an enthusiast and a lover of art and literature. Although he has been described in history as a "traitor" for overthrowing Nawab Sirajuddaula by colluding with the British in the context of Palashi in 1757, this does not erase the story of his fondness for art and literature. His courtiers were medieval poets Bharat Chandra, Ramprasad Sen, Jagannath Tarka Panchanan, Hariram Tarka Siddhanta and others.
Scholars say that Gopal Bhar was one of the many gems of this Krishnachandra meeting. Although they have not come to a definite decision in this regard, the majority is in favor of this opinion. As Ajit Kumar Ghosh wrote in his book on humor in Bengali literature, 'Gopal Rasik-Churamani was a clown in the royal court of Maharaja Krishnachandra Roy.'
In 1952, Homshikha published a special issue on Gopal Bhar. The purpose of the magazine was to understand Gopal Bhar in a new way. There, Professor Madan Mohan Goswami wrote the same thing in his essay titled 'Collection of popular stories in the name of Gopal Bhar'.
So the distance between the time of Krishnachandra and Gopal Bhar is 1800 to 2000 years. But why would people 300 years ago be so obsessed with Gopal Bhar, where there is no lack of precise information about his contemporary Krishnachandra, Bharatchandra? The reason for this is that every sage is like one.
When Pandit Gopal Bhar, like Sukumar Sen, Parimal Goswami, Atul Sur Ki Ajitkrishna Bose, was divided on various issues, then in 1926 (1333 BS) a gentle vibration arose in Bangabhumi called Navadwip Kahini or Maharaja Krishnachandra and Gopal Bhar. Author Srinagendranath Das. He claimed to be a descendant of Gopal Bhar. Just what is the claim? For the first time in his speech, Gopal Bhar appeared as a specific person. Earlier, some people acknowledged the existence of Gopal but could not match his lineage. According to Nagendranath, Gopal's real name is Gopal Chandra. He was the caretaker of the treasury of Raja Krishnachandra's Raj Antahpur. So his surname became Bhandari from Gopal Chandra Nai. Clown further from Bhandari. His father's name was not Dulal Chandra. Prapita Anandaram is not there. They are barber in the nation. However, Dulal Chandra was the surgeon of Nawab Alivardi Khan. Nagendranath Das has given information in the Navadwip story that the Gopals were two brothers. Big brother Kalyan and little brother Gopal. He was born in the middle of the eighteenth century in Murshidabad. Nagendranath further writes, ‘Maharaja Krishnachandra Roy was impressed by Gopal’s qualities and took him to Gowari Krishnanagar. Gopal was very handsome and from his childhood he was very good at using clever and humorous words. Like Maharaja Vikramaditya, Maharaja Krishnachandra had a Pancharatna meeting. Maharaja Krishna, seeing Gopal's eloquence and eloquence, appointed him as one of the members of his sister meeting .... Gopal had a son and a daughter named Radharani. Radharani has two sons Ramesh and Umesh. He has been missing for a long time. '
At the end of all this, Narendranath's comment is as follows: Although Gopal's lineage has disappeared, he is the ninth subordinate of his brother Kalyan.
Khatkar Rajya and Gopal
Knowing all this about Gopal, all was settled and Narendranath Mahasaya was unanimously accepted as Gopal's descendant. But Khatka did not leave the scholars behind. They said that Krishnachandra had given land to both his courtiers, poet Bharat Chandra and musician Ramprasad. If Gopal is a favorite of Krishnachandra and a man of that period, then why there is no evidence that he has any land in Nadia or Krishnanagar? Even in the archives of Krishnanagar Rajbari there is no documentary evidence of Gopal's existence. He has no picture.
Those who are more skeptical about Gopal's existence have found more arguments from Bharatchandra. Although this eminent poet of the Middle Ages wrote about King Krishnachandra and many of his courtiers in his poem Annadamangal, it is notable that there is not a word about Gopal Bhar in it. If Go pal had been his contemporary and a member of the same assembly, he would have been found in the writings of Bharat Chandra — this is their decision.
There is more to Khatka. Many of Gopal's stories have references to his mother and wife. But history about Gopal's mother and wife is surprisingly silent. They survive only in the story.
As a result, scholars who are skeptical of Gopal's existence as a single person want to blow up the book Navadwip Kahini written by Nagendranath Das in one fell swoop. He also raises the question about the author's claim about Gopal's succession: If Gopal's elder brother Kalyan's family name is 'Nai' then why his next generation Nagendranath's family name is 'Das'?
Nagendranath is silent about this. However, his current generation - who now live in Radha Prasad Lane on Sukiya Street in Kolkata - says, "Narendranath himself changed his family name."
Four years ago (2014), Sujit Roy wrote a book of about 300 pages in search of Gopal Bhar. The statements of the present descendants of Nagendranath Das are quoted from that book. Sujit's research in the book on Gopal Bhar is extensive. Combining history with the diverse writings of different people, he has searched the whole book for the real existence of the humorous Gopal Bhar. It is better to say that he is more inclined to present Gopal as a specific person by refuting various questions and arguments. In this case, he has also responded to the above-mentioned khatakagulo.
His decision not to trace Gopal’s property, ‘Gopal probably didn’t know how to get his hands on it. Maybe that is why Gopal Maharaja has been deprived of his generosity. ' So who can say what happened to the landlord's documents then! 'Similarly, his counter-argument, jealousy and' self-promotion 'in the absence of Gopal's mention in Bharatchandra's writings, he (Bharatchandra) has silently rejected the rare genius like Gopal Bhar.'
There is no doubt that some of the words of Sujit Roy are strong in their search for Gopal Bhar; However, there is an emphasis on the body!
Gopal has become a clown?
Gopal is not really a clown! In the case of Sukumar Sen, the story goes that Gopal Bhar was a clown of King Krishna chandra, a modern myth that is now almost accepted as a historical fact. But to tell the truth, seventy-eight years ago, it was rumored that Gopal Bhar, a courtier of Krishna chandra, did not exist. ' But the mind does not want to accept the words of this famous historian of old. On the contrary, it seems like a bunch of vegetables on understanding, when the famous historian Gautam Bhadra also spoke in the same tone. Said that Gopal Bhar is the creation of urban folk culture. (The Telegraph, 11 May 2014). This treasure of Bengalis is not in reality then? Gopal has become a clown? It is necessary to go into another breadth in this regard. The other things that make a fuss about Gopal are the variety of information about his race, residence, education, surname etc.
In contrast to ‘barber in the nation’, some researchers have identified Gopal as Kayastha. According to many, he lived in Krishnanagar. According to the Bengali Kshitish Bangsali, Gopal was a resident of Shantipur. It is said that his house was in a whirlpool. The encyclopedia edited by Nagendranath Bose is going to Apava, Gopal's home is Guptipara. In some words, he knew how to read. Someone said, did not know. And there is enough confusion about the title of this Mahatma — no, faith, humor, treasurer, clown — but which one is correct?
Just information after information. But the funny thing is, the history of Gopal's marriage and death is very silent. So, let's take a look at what Sirajul Islam, a professor of history, has to say about this well-known humorist.
Business after business. There is no easy message.
Gopal is a clown
In fulfilling the condition of a real character, Gopal Bhar may have some shortcomings in his shape and form, in which case the debate is endless whether he is a fictional figure of a collective man or a real character. Gopal Bhar did not write any book. Each of his stories has become popular through word of mouth. So the process by which oral literature is carried out . when a person hears a shocking story, he has a desire to retell it, and when he retells it, the story changes a little without his knowledge — is this how Gopal reached the masses? Alok Kumar Chakraborty has said, ‘Nadia's comedian man is the creator of the fictional comedian Gopal Bhar. Maybe Gopal Bhar — they have expressed their humor behind this pseudonym. ' In the end, Gopal is a clown. There is a representative of the lower class Bengalis, in their humor and sorrow. Once upon a time in the feudal society of Bengal, when there was the dawn of urban civilization, he was the political consciousness of that society. Conscience. And Gopal's political consciousness blossomed in the guise of clowning. But is Vivek Gopal just a clown?
The answer to the question is hidden in a story of his.
Krishna chandra once said to Gopal, ‘I cannot estimate the distance between truth and falsehood. It would be nice if you could help me a little bit. '
Gopal said, ‘What a difficult problem this is, Maharaj! The distance between the eyes and the ears is as much as the distance between truth and falsehood. '
Krishna chandra did not understand Gopal's words. He said, ‘Explain. I don't understand the meaning of your words. '
This time Gopal said, ‘Maharaja, if you can prove visually what you are hearing, then that is the truth. And heard with the ears, did not see with the eyes, it is never true. That is why the eye-ear relationship between truth and falsehood is very deep and the distance between eye and ear is as much as the distance between truth and falsehood. '
Then it would be a crime to just call Gopal a 'clown' in the sense of cloning!
