বন্ধু কুকুর -

     সেদিন ছিলো শনিবার। তাই সম্ভবত মাথার ওপর শনি ঘুরছিল। শনিবার আমাদের স্কুল বন্ধ। মা বলেছিল বাইরে থেকে বাজার করে আনতে ,হঠাৎ দেখি একটা কুকুর ল্যাম্পপোস্টের ওপর টয়লেট করছে। টয়লেট শেষে একটু এগিয়ে শুয়ে পড়লো , সম্ভবত ঘুমাবে। হঠাৎ পাশ দিয়ে একটা গাড়ি গেলো, গাড়িটাকে সাইড দিতে গিয়ে ,আমার পা পড়লো কুকুরের লেজের ওপর। বোঝো ঠেলা।

নিদ্রা ভঙ্গ করার দায়ে, কুকুরটি আমায় তাড়া করলো। তাড়া খেয়ে আমার প্যান্ট ঢিলা হয়ে গেল। কিন্তু তাও কুকুরটা থামে না। আমি বিপদে পড়েছি দেখে, কুকুরকে লক্ষ্য করে ঢিল ছুড়লেন এক দয়াবান ব্যক্তি। ঢিলটি একেবারে কুকুরের নাকের সামনে দিয়ে গেল, একটু হলেই লাগত কুকুরের গায়ে। কুকুরটি পালালো। আমি..ও থামলাম। সামনে তাকিয়ে দেখি একটা দোকান, যেখানে সব পণ্যের ওপর ৮০ শতাংশ ছাড়। আমার যা প্রয়োজন ছিলো,সব কিনে যে টাকাটা বাঁচলো, সে টাকা দিয়ে মা আমায় আইসক্রিম কিনে দিলো। অতএব, কুকুরের তাড়া

খেয়ে আমার ভালোই হলো।

পরদিন স্কুলে যাওয়ার সময় বাসের জন্য দাঁড়িয়ে আছি। হঠাৎ দেখি একটা কুকুর আমার

দিকে তেড়ে আসছে। দেখলাম সেই কুকুরটাই। সারা শরীরে সাদা লোম, বাম চোঁখ, ডান কান আর পেটের ওখান দিয়ে শুধু একটু কালো। বুঝতে পারলাম প্রতিশোধ নিতে আসছে। আবার দৌড় দিলাম আমি। কাঁধে ব্যাগ থাকায় বেশি দৌড়াতে পারলাম না। কিন্তু গ্রাম থেকে গাছে ওঠা শিখেছি। তাই একটা আমগাছে উঠে পড়লাম। কুকুরটা গাছে ওঠার চেষ্টা করল, কিন্তু পারল না। আমার দিকে তাকিয়ে কিছুক্ষণ ঘেউ.. ঘেউ ,করে চলে গেল। আমি গিয়ে দেখি, একটু আগে যেখানে বাসের জন্য দাঁড়িয়ে ছিলাম, সেখানে একটা গাড়ি অ্যাক্সিডেন্ট করে উল্টে

পড়ে আছে। কুকুরের তাড়া খেয়ে যদি আমি না পালাতাম, তাহলে ওই গাড়ির নিচেই থাকতাম আমি।

পরপর দুইবার কুকুরটার কারণে বেঁচে

গেলাম। তবু কুকুরটা শান্তি পেল না। কয়েক দিন পর স্কুলে যাওয়ার সময় আবার তাড়া করলো আমায়। কিন্তু এবার লেজে পা রাখার শাস্তি সে আমায় দিতে পারলো,শুধু পারলো..ই না, খুব ভালোভাবে পারলো। আমার হাত, পা এবং পশ্চাৎদেশ তার দাঁত দিয়ে ক্ষতবিক্ষত করে ফেললো। ফলে আমি হাসপাতালে ভর্তি হলাম। একদিন আমার কয়েকজন বন্ধু আমার সঙ্গে দেখা করতে এসে বলল, 'তুই সেদিন স্কুলে না গিয়ে ভালোই করেছিস।' তারপর তারা যা বললো ,তা ছিলো অনেক টা এই রকম - আমি যেখানে প্রতিদিন বসি, সেখানকার ইট নাকি ধসে পড়েছে। কারণ, আমার সিট দেয়ালের পাশে। আমি যদি সেইদিন স্কুলে যেতাম, তাহলে সেই ইট হয়তো আমার মাথার ওপরই পড়তো।

তখন আমার বুঝতে একটুও বাকি রইলো না যে, ওপরওয়ালা কুকুরটাকে আমার জীবন রক্ষা করার জন্য..ই পাঠিয়েছেন।

হাসপাতাল থেকে ছুটি পাওয়ার পর দেখি, সেই কুকুরটা হাসপাতালের বাইরে দাঁড়িয়ে রয়েছে। আমাকে দেখেই সে বসে পড়লো । লেজ নাড়াতে লাগলো। জিহ্বা বের করে আমার দিকে এমনভাবে তাকাল, যেন তার চোখে আমায় বলছে, বন্ধু তোমার সব বিপদ থেকে রক্ষা করার দায়িত্ব ,আজ থেকে আমার। তার কথাটা আমি বুঝতে পারলাম। আমি আমার হাত তার দিকে বাড়িয়ে দিলাম এবং সে আমার হাত জিহ্বা দিয়ে স্পর্শ করতে থাকলো, আমি তাকে কোলে তুলে নিজের বাড়ি নিয়ে গেলাম। আমার পরিবারের সবাই তাকে মেনে নিলো। এখন সে আমাদের সাথেই থাকে, এবং সে আমি সহ সবার বন্ধু
