On May 28, 2022, I was sitting in the Shovan sleeper on the Teesta Express intercity train from Jamalpur to Dhaka. গত ২৮ মে ২০২২ তারিখে জামালপুর থেকে ঢাকায় তিস্তা এক্সপ্রেস আন্তঃনগর ট্রেনে শোভন স্লিপারে বসে আসছিলাম। রাত প্রায় একটা দুই মিনিটে জামালপুর থেকে ঢাকায় ছেড়ে আসা ট্রেনটিতে প্রায় প্রতিদিন সাত-আটশ মানুষ যাতায়াত করে। ময়মনসিংহ স্টেশনে আসার পর ট্রেনটি ১২ মিনিট অপেক্ষা করে।
ময়মনসিংহ থেকে ছাড়ার সময় আমি যে বগিতে - ছিলাম (ছ-এক, তিন) সে বগিতে আরো বারোজন নতুন যাত্রী ওঠে। এদের মধ্যে কয়েকজন মহিলা যাত্রী ছিল। ওই ট্রেনে কর্মরত তৃতীয় শ্রেণীর কর্মকর্তা এক বোরখা পরিহিত ভদ্রমহিলাকে আমার পাশের সিটে (সিট নাম্বার: পাঁচ , ছয়) বসিয়ে দিলেন।
রাতের জার্নি। যাত্রীদের অনেকেরই চোখে ঘুমছিল এবং অনেকেই উপন্যাস পড়ছিলেন। আর আমি জানালার বাইরে চেয়ে চেয়ে নিঃশব্দ রাতের সঙ্গে মিতালি করছিলাম।
মহিলাটি যখন ট্রেনে উঠেছিল তখন তার হাতে একটি পত্রিকা ছিল। কিন্তু সে ট্রেনে উঠেছিল টিকেট ছাড়া। সিটগুলো ছিল মুখোমুখি। মহিলার পাশে বসা ছিল এক স্মার্ট তরুণ। মহিলাটি বসেই তরুণকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলো, আপনি কোথায় যাবেন।
তরুণ সহযাত্রী হিসেবে সহজভাবেই উত্তর দিল,
ঢাকায় যাবো।
তরুণটি গল্পচ্ছলে ভদ্রমহিলাকে প্রশ্ন করলো, আপনি কি করেন?
মহিলাটি উত্তর দিল, আমি চাকরি করি এবং গফরগাও যাচ্ছি। এভাবে আলাপচারিতার ফাকে ফাকে মহিলাটি ঘুমের ভান করে তরুণের ওপর হেলে পড়ছিল।
